user log and work hour details in a particular task

I'm reposting this as a feature requirement in tactic, it would be great if the user who has been assigned to a particular task to be able to start and stop the task with a timer while he starts work, so that we can trace back how much time he has spent on each task.
Manually entering the work timing is not a perfect way, when it comes to production.

I am not sure how this works, so say user A started the time on Monday 8am, then he stops the timer before he leaves from work? And if he forgets to do that then the time gets calculated till he stops the time, which could be next day or later.

What idea do you have to calculate the work time of a user? could you explain more with an example on how you would like your workflow to be?

HI X-jo, yes you are right if the user forgets to logout it is a big confusion, which is what exactly happening with the current application we have inhouse,
one option we are considering is to make the account logout automatically if the machine is idle for over a 15 mins or so.
the other one is a little expensive, we can build a bridging script between the 3d application and tactic and force the user to login to a particular project and shot and so when the job is done the user will have to save it with an option to stop the timer for the particular task.

so basically it boils down to using a calculated approach outside tactic (which seems the best solution as it deals with 3rd party softwares too) and then filling up the workhours column with the values you got. that sounds like a workflow that would fit your studio/project specifically.

Let me know , which way you went with, would be interested to know how you did it too.
